Reflections from NovaRed Security Week 2024: Growth, Partnership, and the Critical Importance of Service Availability

This past week, I had the pleasure of visiting Santiago, Chile, to participate in NovaRed Security Week (NSW2024), a significant event in the cybersecurity calendar for Latin America. As someone who is deeply committed to the region and to our partners, it was an invaluable experience that underscored the importance of our work and the relationships we’re building in Latin America.

Growth and Commitment to Latin America: A ‘Partner First’ Approach

Over the past few years, Latin America has become a key focus for Corero. Our recent partnerships (read the press release here) with companies like NovaRed, VGL, and GreyMatter, and our existing relationship with TechEnabler in Brazil, are testament to our commitment to the region. These partnerships aren’t just business transactions—they’re the foundation of a strategic growth initiative aimed at strengthening our presence and supporting our customers across Latin America.

We firmly believe in a “partner first” business model. We understand that our success is deeply intertwined with the success of our partners. By working closely with organizations that are well-established and respected in their local markets, we’re able to deliver our industry-leading DDoS protection solutions more effectively and efficiently. This collaborative approach ensures that we’re not only providing cutting-edge technology but also tailoring our solutions to meet the unique needs of each market.

During my time in Chile, I met with our new partners, each of whom brings something unique to the table. NovaRed’s expertise in cybersecurity, VGL’s leadership in the film and entertainment industry, and GreyMatter’s innovative digital transformation solutions all complement Corero’s mission to safeguard digital infrastructure. Additionally, we are pleased to announce a significant deal with Netline, a leading Chilean telecommunications provider, in collaboration with GreyMatter. Together, we’re not just entering a new market—we’re building a robust ecosystem that’s designed to protect and empower businesses throughout Latin America.

The Human Element in Business: Relationships Matter

While the technologies we work with are often complex, at the heart of our business are relationships. This was evident to me throughout my time at NSW2024, where I had the opportunity to meet with prospective customers, partners, and the many professionals who visited our booth at the event.

It’s easy to get caught up in the technical aspects of cybersecurity—after all, the field is filled with innovations and ever-evolving challenges. But ultimately, business boils down to people. Whether it’s building trust with a new partner, understanding the specific needs of a customer, or simply shaking hands with a colleague, the human element cannot be overstated.

One of the highlights of the week was the time I spent getting to know our partners on a deeper level. There’s something incredibly valuable about face-to-face meetings that no amount of emails or video conferences can replace. These interactions allow us to foster trust, align our visions, and truly collaborate on how best to serve our customers.

I also had the chance to speak with many of the attendees at NSW2024. It was inspiring to see so many people who are passionate about cybersecurity and dedicated to protecting their organizations. The conversations I had reinforced my belief that, in the end, our industry is all about enabling people to do what they do best—without the fear of cyber threats.

Defending Service Availability: The Lifeblood of Modern Business

One of the central themes of my presentation at NSW2024 was the importance of defending service availability. Today, a business’s ability to provide services online is not just a competitive advantage—it’s a necessity. Without it, a company can lose customers, revenue, and even its reputation in a matter of hours.

Chile’s Cybersecurity Framework Law, which was another focus of my presentation, represents a critical step forward in ensuring that businesses in the region are equipped to defend their service availability. The law highlights the growing recognition of cybersecurity as a fundamental aspect of business operations, and I applaud the Chilean government for taking these proactive measures.

However, legislation alone is not enough. It’s up to us, as industry leaders and cybersecurity professionals, to ensure that the tools and strategies we employ are up to the task. At Corero, we specialize in adaptive DDoS defense solutions that are designed to safeguard service availability. We understand that even the smallest disruption can have significant consequences, and our mission is to ensure that our customers’ online services remain uninterrupted, no matter what.

Looking Ahead

As I reflect on my time in Chile, I am more confident than ever in Corero’s strategy and our commitment to Latin America. We’re not just growing our business; we’re investing in relationships and building a network of partnerships that will help us protect businesses across the region.

I want to extend my deepest gratitude to our partners, our customers, and everyone I had the pleasure of meeting at NSW2024. The future of cybersecurity in Latin America is bright, and I’m excited to continue this journey together, ensuring that service availability remains strong, even in the face of ever-evolving cyber threats.

Thank you, Chile, for your warm hospitality and for reaffirming the importance of human connection in this digital age. Together, we’ll continue to defend what matters most—our ability to connect, to serve, and to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world.
