GRE Attack

A GRE DDoS attack is a type of DDoS attack that targets a network by flooding it with malicious Generic Routing Encapsulation (GRE) packets. GRE is a legitimate tunneling protocol used for creating VPNs and other network functions. In a GRE DDoS attack, an attacker typically uses a botnet to generate and send a large volume of GRE packets to a target network, overwhelming its resources and causing service disruptions. Mitigation may involve rate-limiting GRE traffic, implementing traffic filtering rules, and using DDoS protection services.
